The chess set design is of the House of Staunton collector series chessmen. From the HOS description: "Crafted to replicate the design and proportions of the original Staunton pattern Chessmen, registered by Nathaniel Cooke in March of 1849 and first manufactured by Jaques of London in September 1849 These Chessmen". Feature a 4.0" King with a 2" Diameter base and are very heavily weighted. These Chessmen are an exact replica of the original Chessmen, down to the smallest details replicated in plastic and marked on the base os the Kings. The Chess pieces are heavily weighted. The set comes in a gorgeous, period-specific box. The original by Jaques of London in 1849, this faithful reproduction of the original was designed and made in a limited edition by Frank A. Camaratta, Jr. It is perhaps the closest many of us will come to owning a sample of this wonderful piece of history. The box measures 10" x 7.5" x 4.5".
