Description: | It took three months to make this beautiful chess set. From designing the pieces through cutting the glass and arranging the small pieces to forming the final images to firing the glass in the kiln at high temperature, cooling off and assembling the on the final metal stands. Not only are the pieces colorful and beautiful they are also meaningful, easy to identify and functional. The pieces incorporate symbols from the "standard" chess world such as: Pawns - single line (value = 1); Bishops - diagonal line (movement); Knights -horses; Rooks - castles (or if one prefers ships); Queens - with pointed crown and authoritative King.
In addition, the major pieces (B, N, R), who appear in pairs, are artistically "identical" but reflect mirror images - one to the left the other to the right. Each of the pawns have different facial expressions ("Emogi") - happy, sad smile, wondering, surprised, etc. The set is signed and numbered #1 by the artist (aka myself). 2022. |
